Histria Winery is the pride of carrying forward the legacy of wine, of nurturing the gift passed down from your father. Every year, we choose to honor with diligence and meticulous care the Dobrogean land, where the vines bask in the sun for over 300 days a year, and the sea imparts unmistakable saline aromas to the wines.
Wine embodies civilization and hedonism, and Histria has always been a meeting place for civilizations united by their appreciation for nature, wine, and trade. We aim to continue these stories, and among our wines, you will find each one mentioned, each with its own tale.
Histria Winery – a new chapter in ancient stories.
NIKOLAOS translates to 'he who rules over people' in Greek and serves as a dual-purpose brand: it is a living memorial to the name of my father, Neculai, and a way to carry forward his work. It is a wine that speaks of the vine, of the grape. Fermented solely with wild yeast, without oenological interventions, this brand aims to showcase the full potential of the plantation, the region, the terroir. That's why the label proudly displays 'Terroir de Dobrogea.'
Histria Range was crafted to highlight distinctive grape varieties found in our vineyards. Here, we feature Riesling and Pinot Noir, thriving in atypical zones, delivering wines with unique structures. Additionally, this range showcases Merlot from the vineyard planted in 1976, fermented with wild yeast and left unbarreled.
AMMOS means 'sand' in Greek, reflecting the perfect mix of the area we find ourselves in. At Histria Winery, we have sandy soils, we are close to the sea (witnessing the sunrise over the sea), and we are in the area with the strongest Greek influence in Romania. The colors of the labels reflect the life of the vineyard – the green leaves of the vines, the blue of the sea, and the ripe, purple grapes.
